Reply to Magnus Linklater

Notwithstanding the arguments presented by Magnus Linklater (When the Kirk persecuted Irish migrants,13 May) it is never acknowledged that the Roman Catholic hierarchy did not teach Irish migrants to recognise Scotland as a Christian country. Neither did it show any respect for our great international Christians. Irish Catholics were told not to integrate. Moreover, the Catholic Church in Scotland still practises spiritual apartheid in relation to participation in Holy Communion on the grounds that for Protestants, Jesus is the Head of the Christian Church, not the Pope.
